In the framework of the Aladdin project senior volunteers will help - by using storytelling techniques -  to develop different skills and competences in young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The consortium consists of 5 partners from 5 different countries:
  • Elan Interculturel (France),
  • Képes Foundation (Hungary),
  • Superact (UK),
  • Dema (Spain),
  • Dutch Storytelling Centre (The Netherlands).

The particiating organisations have different profiles: some of them have experience in intergenerational work and/or working with senior volunteers, some of them in storytelling, some in interculturality.  We will bring out our "complementary added value" and develop a theoretical background and methodology for using stories and storytelling techniques in cooperative intergenerational work with senior citizens and disadvantaged young adults.

Different partners will focus on the development of different skills and competences:
  • motivation to learn and work (Hungary),
  • foreign language competences of immigrant young adults (France, Spain),
  • entrepreneurial skills (The Netherlands, UK).

The desired impact for the young adults is to increase their cultural competences, communication skills, self-confidence, social skills and as a consequence the improvement of their social inclusion. As for elderly people, we expect an impact on their self-esteem (enforcing the feeling of being useful), and a break-down or prevention of their social isolation. Thus, both groups could feel empowered by being members of a group where people are encouraged to share their experiences, values, strengths, life stories and where they can learn from each other.

The first transnational meeting has taken place in Paris for three days in mid-october, 2015. The meeting focused on the presention of the partner organizations as well as an overall presentation of the project background. Thus themes such as finance, budget, administration, management, and communication were also tackled. Further meetings have already been planned in Barcelona, Budapest, Bristol and Amsterdam to keep on working on this project.

We are all very enthusiastic about starting this new adventure together. Stay tuned!

I'm extremely regarded for having myself here at this post since I'm going with the extraordinary and old Egyptian Manuscript named as "Mae". This article likewise is by all accounts educational in light of the fact that I came to think about "Mae" just by this post.

Aladdin is definitely one of my favorite characters of all time. I know that this is not really big news, given that most of my pictures are of him, but I just wanted to say it. He is definitely one of the greatest characters ever written. I understand that most people are not really interested in his background, but believe me, he is one of the most complex characters that was ever written. I hope that more people start to adore him.
